Hello, everyone!
I hope your week is going well so far. Mine is – you guessed it – busy, but good. I’ve been pretty good at managing my time this week, though…Can you believe IΒ got almost 9 hours of sleep last night?? I haven’t done that in ages! Of course, it meant I needed to forgo my morning workout, but sometimes sleep is healthier than a workout.
Fall is most definitely in the air! The trees around here are absolutely beautiful – orange, red, yellow, and every color in between. I wish there was a law of nature that the trees had to stay like this for at least six weeks, you know?
Anyway, we have a new WIAW theme for this month! “Spooky Snacks and Healthy Halloween Treats”! I love this theme, because, as you might know, I am a major snacker. Maybe focusing on this theme will help me be a bit more healthy with the snacks!
WIAW
Breakfast (E, N)
Special K red berries with skim milk. The picture I took of it turned out awfully, and if there is one thing I can’t stand, it is bad food pictures, so I will spare you. π
Lunch (E, N)
Lunch was actually a left over Chicken Enchilada that my mom made this weekend. These things are soooooo good, but the nutrition isn’t superb. Especially if you like a lot of cheese on it, as I do. π So, to healthify my meal a bit, I added a side of frozen mixed veggies.
Snacks (throughout the day)
A wonderful gala apple. ‘Tis the season!
And a homemade Clif bar (click for the recipe!). Second to last one. I’m sad they’re almost finished! π¦
OK, speaking of Halloween Treats…I succumbed to some candy. I need to be honest with you. ‘Tis the season where every office on campus has lots of candy hanging around tempting Olivia who can’t say no to candy.
Actually, seeing all of those pictures in the background has reminded me that I still need to put up a photo of my decorated room. Because last time you saw it, it sure was ugly. I’ll try and remember to do that next week!
Dinner (E, N, GF)
Quinoa. I cooked up a huge batch (which means leftovers for later in the week!) and stirred in some heart-healthy, reduced sodium pasta sauce, some pesto, frozen mixed veggies, and cheese. It reallllly did not look pretty, but it realllly tasted good! (Actually, because the picture that I took of it was so awful, I’m going to use another picture of another dish that looks very similar:)
It was nice and warm, which was perfect for this gloomy day.
P.S. When I say gloomy, it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. π
Dessert (E, N)
These beastly things. (Get it? Beastly? haha.) I should know better than to buy the package in the first place, but I will say, I have been doing well and sticking to one serving.
At a time. Three times a day.
Workouts September 31 – October 6
Sunday: off
Monday: 20 minutes jogging + 25 minutes walking on treadmill
Tuesday: Level 2 of these super great videos. Seriously, if you like circuit training, check these out!
Wednesday: rest <– and I do mean that. Hello, 9 hours!
Thursday: 20 minutes jogging + 25 minutes walking on treadmill
Friday: Level 3 of those videos + at least 20 minutes yoga
Saturday: off – I have a conference that I will be at all day
In other news, I have decided to join up for the October Yoga Challenge hosted by Courtney at Sweet Tooth Sweet Life! If you remember, I was part of the June Yoga Challenge she hosted earlier this year. While I just barely managed to achieve my goals then, it was still a good thing for me to be a part of, as it made yoga a priority for me. So, anyway, expect a weekly update about that!
Remember that puppy versus lemon video that I posted last week? And how I compared that puppy’s reaction to a lemon to Ella’s reaction to tape? Well, here is that video.
This just makes me laugh out loud. She is so funny. She’s determined to get the tape (why? I don’t know) but hates when it gets stuck on her fur, so it turns into this ongoing battle of her spazzing out the entire time. At the end of the video, it gets stuck on her paw. I turned off the camera to help her, but it was soooo funny watching her run around like mad, the leg with tape on it sticking straight out.
Maybe you have to know her, but I hope the video at least made you smile! π
Well, I’m off to get some homework done before the presidential candidate debate comes on. It’s really exciting being able to take this seriously…I wasn’t old enough to vote during the last election, and had absolutely no say in the matter. This time, I do. I am so thankful to be an American.
Political/food humor. Get it?
Oh man, I crack myself up. Have a great night! π
The trees near you are so beautiful. Also, nice animal crackers!
They really are. And thanks! π
