Topsail Beach: Part II

Good morning!

I’m so happy you all liked reading about my vacation, because I have to say, I’m really enjoying reliving it! 🙂

On the second day of our trip, I took a whole bunch of pictures using my dad’s “good” camera. However, the camera decided not to allow me to download the pictures to my computer, so we’ve taken the memory card to Costco, and I’ll have to wait for them to figure it out before I can post those pictures. Bummer.

In the meantime, though, I’ll explain what we did that evening

About three minutes down the beach from our house was the Seaview Fishing Pier. My family and I decided to go for a walk along it and take in some more of the scenery, so we paid the amount (a dollar per person) and took a stroll.

There were a lot of people fishing off the sides of the pier, and it was a really relaxing place to be. (Note: Being above the ocean on a creaky, moving, wooden pier isn’t exactly my idea of comfortable or reassuring, but otherwise it was pleasant.)

Yes, hello there ocean. I can see you very well through that large gap in the thin wood planks (peppered with rusty nails) that are holding me and dozens of other people up…

At one point, a little way down the pier, we spotted a man who was holding…

P1080762…a baby shark! Well, I don’t know if it was a baby, but it was small. I’ve never been that close to a shark before (that seems like a silly thing to say, but it’s true!), and I swear he was smiling for the camera. (For those of you who might be wondering, this guy caught the shark on accident, and threw him back in the water.)

Shortly after that photo opp, we passed this sign…

The right side of that house is where we were staying.

The ocean has so many different faces and personalities. The color, tempo, and lure of it changed by the hour, and I could not stop taking pictures of it. It really is just so captivating.

That’s all I have for today!

Have a fantastic Tuesday, everyone!!

  1. Oh man I miss the beach! Love these pictures.

    1. I’m glad. 🙂

  2. I love walking on piers!! They always have such gorgeous views, and from the looks of it, this one was no exception! That’s disappointing that that guy was shark fishing where he was clearly not supposed to be (unless he caught it on accident, of course), but I have to say, I think that little shark is absolutely adorable. He looks miniature! 🙂

    1. They really do. And yes, I do think it was an accident, and he threw it back in after I took the picture. Isn’t it cute? I never would have thought I’d say that about a shark…

  3. You are making me want to go to the beach so bad.

That baby shark is adorable! But I’m not sure I would have gotten as close as you… I can just imagine its little teeth snapping at me. Yikes.

    1. Isn’t it? Haha I had zoomed my camera a bit, and I certainly didn’t get too close!

  4. Confession: I started tearing up (okay crying) when reading this post… This was actual the beach Joshua proposed to me at. Such a beautiful place 🙂

    1. Aww! How sweet! He chose a good place. 🙂

  5. Such pretty photos! 😀

  6. There’s something so calming and relaxing about being by water. Last summer I vacationed on a lake. It was absolutely beautiful first thing in the morning. I was always the first one up and I spent an hour or two on the dock by myself watching the sunrise.

    1. Yes, the early mornings and just after the sun set were my favorite times. It was so calming. That sounds great!

  7. How dreamy. I could look at the ocean, and pictures of the ocean, forever! It’s my favorite 🙂

  8. Beautiful!! What a stunning location!

  9. Shark fishing! What?! What?! That’s crazy. This is the start of shark week on Discovery channel too; there must be something in the water.
