Fitness Friday: Another Fitness Survey

I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m a sucker for surveys. Back in the early 2000s, when email was still super popular, I would go crazy sending out surveys to all of my friends. The medium has changed, but I sure haven’t! So when I saw this one on Tina’s site yesterday, I just had to do it for Fitness Friday.

Fitness Friday

1. What did you eat for breakfast?

Same ol’ same ol’: Greek yogurt with granola and fruit. Yum!

2. How much water do you drink a day?

Oh gosh, I don’t even know. Since I got my 22 oz. Life Factory bottle, I have been drinking so much water. On a typical day, I go through at least four of those, plus whatever I have during my workout. I find that the more I drink water, the more I crave it – not a bad situation to be in!

3. What is your current favorite workout?

I love running the best, but I’ve really been enjoying the TurboKick classes I’ve been going to recently! They kick my butt and I get really sweaty afterward – my definition of a good workout!

4. How many calories do you eat a day?

Ummmm way more than I should. If I were to reign in the constant snacking, I would probably be around 1700 or so.

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

I love grabbing a Chobani cup because they’re flavorful, “real”, full of protein, and the perfect snack size.

I also love hummus and veggies. I could snack on that combo all day!

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

It really depends. Unlike my breakfasts, my lunches are a wide variety of foods. Sometimes I’ll do a sandwich, sometimes a salad or leftovers, and other times a simple snack plate sounds just right.

7. What is your favorite body part to strength train?

I loooooove strengthening my legs. In the past year or so I’ve been noticing muscle in my quads, and it makes me giddy every time notice them. Unfortunately, I have a body type that doesn’t show muscle definition no matter how hard I try (in my arms, for example, it just looks bulky…no long, toned, muscle-y arms for me). That was one gene I would have been ok not inheriting.

8. What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

I really don’t have a least favorite. I guess I don’t work on my calves too much, because as it is, over the past three or so years since I’ve begun working out, they’ve grown to the point that it’s hard to find jeans that fit!

9. What are your “bad” food cravings?

Oh lord. What don’t I crave?? Crackers and tortilla chips are by far my worst, but I crave chocolate very often, too.

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

Yep, daily. I take fiber, multivitamins, and calcium every morning. Sometimes, if I’ve been feeling “off”, I’ll take some probiotics.

11. How often do you eat out?

Not very often. We used to go out weekly, but that gets expensive and unhealthy, so it’s best to eat at home.

12. Do you eat fast food?

If you define fast food as McDonalds, Burger King, and Chik-fil-A, then heck no. But I know some people consider Subway and Panera to be fast food, and I eat at those places often.

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

My family and Dan. Pretty much every family member is always so supportive and encouraging, especially my parents, and Dan is the same way. I’m very blessed.

14. Do you have a gym membership?

Yep! Well, through August I do. And I’m loving it.

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

Anywhere from 6-8. Six hours is dangerously close to “don’t-go-near-Olivia-because-she’ll-rip-your-head-off” zone. (Read: I get cranky with little sleep.)

16. Do you have a “cheat”day?

Every day is a “cheat day” for me. I allow myself to have dessert or chocolate to maintain my sanity and because, let’s face it, I can’t live without those foods!

17. Do you drink alcohol?

Not really. I’ll have a glass of wine or a hard cider here and there, but that’s once, maybe twice a week.

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

I’m definitely more of what they call a “cat runner”. I use my workouts as alone time, time for me to think, so I rarely exercise with a buddy. But when I do, it’s always a lot of fun!

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

I love this question. Everything has changed. My outlook, my mentality, my positivity, my physical, mental, and emotional strength, and last but definitely not least, my body/body image. Adapting and committing to a healthy lifestyle has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

20. What was the last healthy thing you did?

I took the morning off from working out. I need my rest days! 🙂

  1. I’ve liked those Life Factory bottles ever since I first saw them a few years ago- maybe it’s time to upgrade from my utilitarian stainless steel bottle!
    That chocolate cupcake looks DIVINE.
The last healthy thing I did- got up earlier than usual today and went for a nice long walk. So cool and breezy before the humidity sets in for the day! Also, eating oatmeal with flax, yogurt, cinnamon, and banana right now.
    Have a good weekend!

    1. Yeah, I really like it! I’ve tried other bottles but they always either have a metallic smell/taste or just aren’t practical.
I love early morning walks/runs. They’re so peaceful! That’s awesome that you made taking one a priority! 🙂

  2. hahahahahaha I have never heard the term “cat runner” before, but I love it! I’m totally a cat when it comes to working out, too. I want to go on my own time and do my own thing. If I wanna catch up with friends, I’d rather grab coffee or something 😛

    1. Really?? I love it too! The opposite is dog runner, if you didn’t figure that out. I think they’re great, and perfect descriptions!
Yep, exactly. Coffee is better than running/exercising for catching up.

  3. #2: that’s a cute water bottle! 🙂
#3: I attend to turbokick class too. They make you work and sweat so much. LOL! 🙂 I love it though!
love your answers. I can relate to some. 🙂

    1. Thanks!
That’s exactly why I love TurboKick so much!

  4. I like your approach to cheat days 🙂 I find that I have to treat myself on a daily basis as well, or the cravings start to build up and I end up wanting to eat ALL the junk food and going a little overboard. It’s all in the name of sanity, right? 😉 And I always love reading people’s answers to #19. Heck.freaking.yes to being healthy!

    1. That’s what I do, too, if I try to restrict myself. In the end it’s better to just do little allowances, I find. 🙂 I love the answers to that question too!

  5. UM. That chocolate cupcake. Gosh. So good… 😀

I have one of those water bottles sitting on my dresser at home. Still unused I believe from a graduation present about a year ago. Haha. I guess I should try it out the next time I’m home!

Have a great weekend Olivia! 😀

    1. Thanks! 😉
Haha, yeah, it can’t hurt to give it a try! I love mine – hopefully you’ll love yours too.

  6. I eat dessert (mainly ice cream/froyo) daily too! Life’s just too short to go without it 😉
That cupcake picture… I need chocolate NOW!! Specifically I need THAT cupcake 😉
I’m totally with you on the fast food thing. I consider fast food to be McD’s, Wendy’s, etc. Panera might be quick, but it’s also all made fresh (similar with subway) so I don’t consider it “fast food.” I eat at Panera ALL the time 😛

    1. I love that! Life IS too short for skipping ice cream/froyo. 🙂
Yes, exactly. I’m a bit skeptical about Subway sometimes, but usually its convenience and price wins me over, especially because I know it isn’t too bad a choice!

  7. Woo Hoo for rest days! Way to listen to your body, sweetie!!

I’d much rather workout by myself as well.

  8. You and me both on the chocolate (ok and everything under the sun) cravings!

  9. I love your answers for this survey and can relate to so many of them. I don’t believe in cheat days (every day is a potential cheat day for me), I don’t count calories, I love to snack, and solo workouts. I need eight hours a sleep a night, I start every day with granola, yogurt and fruit, I drink a small handful of times a week (heck if I open a bottle of wine, it’ll take me an entire week to finish it and that’s if I’m lucky), and I rarely eat out and when I do I love Chipotle and Panera. We’re like brothers from another mother.
P.S. That feeling of realizing you have a quad muscle or a hamstring back there is amazing.

    1. Wow, seriously, we are very similar! I think we have pretty healthy views on health, if I do say so myself. 🙂
      P.S. I looooove that feeling!

  10. So much about what you said is true for me too ( which is one of the reasons I am so happy I found you!) There is no such thing as a cheat day or a bad food. My favorite workout is yoga which I do solo, and don’t come near me if I haven’t had at least 7 hours of sleep (seriously you know it’s bad when your BF who lives over 2 hours away stops texting you on those days…).

Legs are my favorite too, mostly because I am continually impressed by their increasing flexibility! I might drink a little (okay fine a lot) more often than you when I can but hey a girl’s gotta have her vices 🙂

    1. I’m happy for that too! Hahaha that is too funny! But I understand, I’m like that too if I don’t get sleep. It’s scary.

  11. […] wonderful Liv over at Liv Lives Life posted this survey a couple weeks ago and I’ve had it bookmarked since cause I wanted to do it […]
