Week in Review #2

Wow, what a week. I can’t believe another one has gone by so quickly!

I’ll just jump right in to another Week in Review!

Week in Review

This past week…

  • I have been suffering from seasonal allergies like never before. This has been the worst I’ve ever felt. My eyes are swollen and itchy, my head aches, my throat hurts, and I literally cannot stop sneezing. It’s like a perpetual cold. Spring is lucky it’s so beautiful…

  • My high school orchestra teacher had his last concert. I mentioned it last Wednesday, too, but this man really was amazing. He built the orchestra from the ground up in my school system, and has been teaching for 35 years. Not only was he a great director, he was also the nicest person. Needless to say, there were a lot of tears in the auditorium that night!

  • I started babysitting again! Until the kids get out of school, I only have them for a few hours in the evening, but it’s still good to be back in the swing of things.
  • A pair of robins built a nest on our fireplace vent, and the babies are finally out. It’s a good thing birds get feathers, because those babies aren’t exactly cute.

  • We got out our summer shoes. Hooray for flip flops! πŸ™‚
  • I made a bone mobile type thing for Ella. She loves games and puzzles (ok, that sounds weird, but she really does! Hide and seek is her favorite) and it only took her a little while to get all the bones untied.

That is, after she “hid” the whole string of them. What a goof.

  • I took advantage of my naturally annoyingly curly hair (instead of fighting it) and created this updo. I think it turned out pretty well! I let it air dry with a bit of gel in it, curled the front section with a curling iron and took those strands to pin back, and then pinned up the rest.

I must say, I’m quite proud of my new-found hair styling abilities! πŸ˜‰ The updo wasn’t just for the fun, of it, though…
  • My best friend from middle school got married this weekend!photo-2She looked absolutely gorgeous (although, she always looks gorgeous, lucky duck), and the ceremony was beautiful. It was short and sweet, which I love.
The reception was in a really pretty, cozy building downtown GR.

Dan’s cousin was getting married that same day, so he couldn’t join us. But I did get to spend some time with my parents, which was nice.

I wish Felicia and Nick all the luck and love in the world. πŸ™‚

I LOVE the updo – it’s gorgeous! It’s perfect for weddings, and it suits your hair beautifully. πŸ™‚ Also, Ella is freakin’ adorable. I love the bone mobile thing!

Thank you! Haha yes, the bone mobile was definitely due to boredom, but I’m happy to say she enjoyed it! πŸ˜‰

Friends’ wedding are the best and your hair is super pretty πŸ™‚ Let’s see, highlights lately…last night we dog-sat for a friend for the first time, and it was fun. Kind of a glimpse into the future (hopefully), when we’ll be able to afford our own dog.

Hope you get some relief from your allergies soon!

I agree, they are the best. And thank you! Oh I hope you will be able to get a dog soon – they’re so much fun. Although dog-sitting is fun, too. πŸ™‚

My dog used to hide his favorite toys all over the house too. We’d find them in the strangest places.

    1. livliveslife's avatar

I love that! I’ll often find Ella’s toys on my bed or in a random corner. Too cute. πŸ™‚

  8. […] My friend’s wedding was catered by a local company, and they had a buffet of Italian food. I loaded up my plate with a whole wheat roll, carrots and broccoli, mashed potatoes, and chicken. Yum. […]

So much to say about this post. First, love the updo. It looks gorgeous (come do mine? :)), Second, Ella is adorable & I absolutely love the idea w/ the bones, and Third, have you tried drinking warm green tea before bed to help w/ your allergies?

    1. livliveslife's avatar

Thanks! I have never, ever been good at hair, but now that I’ve been able to tackle mine, I’d gladly head on over! πŸ˜‰ I have never heard of the green tea before bed trick. That definitely sounds like something to try out. Thank you for the idea!!

I love love love the updo. Also, Ella looks like such an angel- and the bone idea is genius! Feel better with those icky spring allergies- everyone has them right now 😦

You did a great job with your hair, Liv! Love the wedding pictures. So nice that you got to share it with your parents. Have a great week!

It really was nice – we’ve been friends with that family for such a long time, so that was a fun evening. And thank you! You have a great week too!

    Your hair turned out lovely!

My hair is in the stages between curly and just plain poofy. Lol. I always have a heck of a time managing it. πŸ™‚

Congratulations to both your band director and friend. Looks like an amazing week filled with amazing people!

    1. livliveslife's avatar

Haha I totally know what you mean. I never understand why people want curly hair, because to me, it’s more poofy than curly!

It really was a great week. πŸ™‚

I’m so sorry to hear about your allergies…hopefully you’ve had some relief since writing this. They say eating local honey helps build up an immunity to allergies since the bees have already gone through all the local pollen. Just a thought.
Ella is absolutely adorable and I love that she enjoys games. My littlest kitty likes to play tag, and we chase one another all over the house. He always wins too.
Your up do is amazing; I can’t believe you navigated that all by yourself; you got skills, and it sounds like a wonderful wedding. Great week in review!!

    1. livliveslife's avatar

I’ve heard that about honey, too, and I’ve been trying it, but to no avail. Bummer. Thanks for the tip, though!
That’s funny – I’ve never heard of a kitty liking to play tag!
Thank you! I tried to recreate it again yesterday and it was a huge fail…I guess I had some good luck that day. πŸ˜‰
