Remember last week when I said I was really busy?
Yeah. I didn’t even know what was coming. For example, on Monday I babysat for 14 hours, almost straight (minus driving time). Don’t get me wrong – I am not complaining in any way. Just merely making an excuse as to why I haven’t been posting, commenting, and doing other blog things as much as I previously was.
However, it’s things like this…
…that make everything worth it. So I’m serious when I say I’m not complaining. I have the “bast” job.
Before I move on to WIAW and some of my favorite eats of the week, let me just say that I haven’t been taking a whole lot of food pictures lately. I’ve learned in the past that the kids just totally don’t understand why I would want to take a picture of my grilled cheese or tuna salad, so it’s just easier for me not to do it than get into that conversation. 😉 Sooooo this WIAW is going to be a bit sparse. Bear with me, please!

Nothing too extraordinary here. Lots more Greek yogurt. I did, however, step out of the ordinary and make a big ol’ smoothie on Sunday morning!
Chock full of spinach and berries. Yum. (Recycled pic. Hence the autumnal leaves.)
My favorite (or at the very least, most exciting) lunch recently was the one we had during my parents’ surprise party. So much good food.
Though I’d be lying if I said I had more veggies than I did chips.
People I should never put an open bag of chips in front of myself.
Allllllrighty. I’m going to breeze past this delicious and healthy dinner that we had on Friday night…
…in favor of this fat-filled, incredible, dangerously unhealthy dinner I enjoyed on Thursday night.
A Cornish pasty!! (How do you like my attempt at trying to healthify my plate with loads of peas?) My mom and aunt were up in Traverse City last week, and they stopped at a pasty shop to pick some up for us. Northern Michigan is sort of known for their pasties, so how could they not? This one was filled with chicken, veggies, and cheese, all wrapped in a gloriously flaky dough. Ohmygosh. I think the second best part – other than the taste – of these pasties is that I didn’t have to slave over them all day. I just got to sit down and really enjoy it.
I called the shop to make sure they didn’t put any egg in their dough, and sure enough, they stuck with tradition and didn’t. Hooray for allergy-friendly pasties!
There were lots of desserts for my parents’ party. My grandma bought a cake (which I couldn’t have), my other grandma made different kinds of jell-o, and I made some chocolate chip cookies.
Of which I had a lot. They’rejusttoogood!!!
Workouts June 23-29
Monday: 25 minutes elliptical + 20 minutes spinning*
Tuesday: circuit/strength training
Wednesday: 25 minutes walking + 25 minutes running on treadmill
Saturday: see Wednesday
*Snap Fitness has a smaller exercise room within the gym, and in that room there’s a projector and a ton of exercise videos you can choose from. I had never tried spinning (actually, I never really had an interest in it), but once I saw they had a 50 minute spinning video that takes a “tour” of Ireland, I was definitely on board! On Monday my mom and I went, but were unable to do the full thing because someone was in there for the first half hour we were there. Anyway, I loved it. The “tour” was really interesting and made the time fly, but it was also cool because the “instructor” gave tips and “how-tos” along the way that made it seem like I really was taking an exercise class.
I didn’t really have much resistance just because it was my first time, but I wasn’t too sore yesterday so I think I’ll increase it the next time I do it. I just loved that it was a different way to work out. Definitely a fan!
In other news, I’ve started learning French! For those of you with iPhones, there’s a free app called “Duolingo“, and you can choose to learn languages like French, Italian, Chinese, Spanish, or German. It is super cool! Very accessible and simple to figure out. Even with my limited time, I’m already past the third level, and I just got it the other day!
Typically, this section ends with an adorable photo of Ella, but I’ve been so busy (and not at home) lately that I don’t have any new pictures of her! I’m such a horrible person. So how about a picture of baby Ella? 🙂
Now that is the way to start a day off right: puppy cuteness. 🙂
I hope you all have a great Wednesday!
Questions of the day:
Which is your busiest season? Normally I would have said fall, because of school, but this summer is definitely proving to be good competition!
Do you ever get weird looks/awkward conversations when people spot you taking photos of random things?
Have you ever tried spinning?
How many languages do you know?
