After walking through the beautiful Notre Dame, Dan and I slowly made our way back to the Louvre. We passed so many beautiful and interesting things along the way.
One tip for those of you who aren’t familiar with Paris: there aren’t any public bathrooms (at least, we didn’t find any – let me know if you heard otherwise!), so you’ll have to go into a restaurant, sit down, and buy something in order to use the bathroom. I didn’t know this, and so was wandering around Paris for more than half of the day in need of a restroom! Eventually, I gave in, and got a cup of hot chocolate from a cafe in order to use their toilet. π
Once we arrived back at the Louvre, we spent a good amount of time strolling the gardens and sitting, soaking up the warm sun.
When the sun started going behind the clouds, we moved on. It had been so relaxing sitting in the sun that I didn’t want to move, but there was more Paris to see. π
Having only had a sandwich and a mug of hot cocoa over the whole day, we were verrrrry hungry by the early evening! After looking around a bit, we eventually decided on a tiny little pizzeria just a few blocks from the Tower. As I mentioned before, I hardly know any French, but I knew that “quatre fromages” meant four cheese, so that was the pizza we went with.
Ohhhhh my goodness. It doesn’t look like much in the picture, but this pizza was amazing. We scarfed it in record time. I think the waitress was probably thinking we were the “stereotypical Americans”, but at that point I didn’t care! π
After our delicious dinner, we went window shopping eating.
And then we turned one corner and came upon this view:
Because we had a bit of time before we had to meet the group back at the river, Dan and I wandered around the Eiffel Tower, getting good pictures and appreciating the beautiful city we were in.
Did you know that, once it gets dark, for five minutes on the hour every hour, the Eiffel Tower sparkles?
The rest of the night was spent on a boat cruise of the Seine river. I couldn’t get any good pictures because there was a glass ceiling over us that reflected light, but let me tell you: if you ever go to Paris, you must take a boat tour! It’s incredible.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I do! Please stay tuned for part three, and have a great day! π
I’ve no comments on your Paris posts! When someone talks Paris – I’m always stunned!
I’m the same way! I felt like I was walking around in a daze… π
[…] on my Study Abroad 2011 recaps (if you are, too, please check out my posts on Paris: here and here!), and as 12/17/11 was my last day there, I’d better get going with the posts! It’s […]
Your post is so unbelievably synchronistic! I just started reading a book that takes place in Paris and love having this photos to bring it alive! When I was there (eek! 14 years ago- wow!) there were porta potty type structures you slipped a coin in to use. I take it they’re gone- but seem like a bad idea anyway, but no toilets are worse! Thank you for linking up on the Photo Friday Blog Hop- we hope to see you next week π
I love it when books can relate to real life! Well, those port-a-potties might have been there, but if they were, I definitely missed them! Thanks for hosting Photo Friday Blog Hop! π
