WIAW Almost and Actually Funny

Guess what?

As you’re reading this, I’m probably finishing up my last work shift OR driving home because I’m DONE with classes!! Wahoo!

Picture 1

I still have finals week coming up, of course…But it’s definitely going to start off right. My creative writing “exam” time is going to include handing in our portfolio, filling out student surveys, and eating. One of my classmates works at Tim Horton’s and is bringing doughnuts (gosh I wish I wasn’t allergic) and coffee (I’m going to have some gosh darn it, even if it makes my stomach upset), another girl from Germany is bringing in German chocolate, and I’m going to make my Chocolate Chip Cookies. That is going to be one seriously fun way to end a seriously fun class.

The rest of finals week will probably be quite run of the mill. I have papers to complete and exams to take, but I’m not too worried about them. Senioritis has definitely set in!

Of course, talk to me this time next week and I’ll be pulling out my hair.

😉

So as it turns out, I really didn’t take a whole lot of pictures of my eats. Here’s a compilation of those that I did snap.

Breakfasts

If you saw Monday’s post, you saw that I enjoyed some absolutely delicious Berry Breakfast Quinoa on Sunday. This stuff is so good.

IMG_1467

Other than that one day, my breakfasts were all Greek yogurt bowls.

Lunches

Sometimes, it’s just a leftover pizza kind of day.

photo

Edamame and an apple made strangely good sides.

That was on Friday, when I was so riveted to the TV rooting on Boston and the BPD that I didn’t feel like making a big lunch.

Snacks

Hummus and baby carrots. I have become obsessed. I just hope my allergies don’t turn on me and decide chickpeas are out, too, because this is one snack that I feel absolutely no guilt enjoying!

Dinners

Because I’m moving out of this apartment in about a week, I need to start eating up everything that I have. So, on the menu for Monday night?

photo-1

Annie’s reduced sodium Mac and Cheese. Oh GOSH this stuff is good. I was actually in the middle of boiling the pasta when I realized I didn’t have any milk, so I improvised a bit with Greek yogurt and margarine and looooved it. It had a nice tangy cheese flavor because of the yogurt, plus some extra protein. Highly recommend that. On the side were mixed veggies (from a rediscovered bag in the depths of the freezer).

Desserts

Hmm…well this is weird. I don’t have any pictures of desserts for you all. There really wasn’t anything super special this past week in this category, I guess. But if you follow me on Instagram (which, by the way, you totally should. I have a few blog friends who are but I feel all sad and lonely with my 12 followers 😉 ), you’ll have seen this yesterday…

photo-3

…an accurate indicator of the sweet treats I’ve had over the week. Plus, I thought the message was very nice, especially in the wake of the Boston bombings and Texas tragedy (hello, alliteration).

—————–

Workouts April 21-27
Sunday: off
Monday: 35 minutes elliptical trainer + strength exercises (I did 100 squats! But I now know I can do more because I wasn’t even sore yesterday…)
Tuesday: 30 minutes jogging (I switched up the speed and incline on this one, and didn’t experience any pain!) + 20 minutes walking on treadmill
Wednesday: off
Thursday: P90X Yoga
Friday: jog outside? (if my allergies don’t get me…) P90X Kenpo inside?
Saturday: depends on Friday

In other news, Monday was two years since we had to put my first dog, Abby, down. I still miss her, but I think she’s probably happier in doggie heaven. She would have hated Ella. 😉

I was so, so happy to see all of the responses to my Fitness Friday post last week. It’s so interesting to read everyone’s opinions and reactions to an article like that, so thank you all for tuning in! I think the general consensus was that the author had some good points, but in general, was kind of a jerk about it all.

Want to see something almost funny? Check out Thursday:

I almost want to laugh. I mean, really? Michigan has been facing some absolutely crazy weather lately…Grand Rapids has been hugely flooded for days now, and with the rain and snow we’ve been getting, I doubt it’s going to get any better anytime soon. However, I take comfort in the 60* weather that follows winter’s (hopefully) last hurrah.

Want to see something actually funny? Look at Ella’s face in this picture:

That just cracks me up. I was trying to take a cute picture of her playing in the grass, but instead caught her mid-chew, eating said grass. Haha. I don’t even know what to make of that.

I really don’t want you all walking clicking away with that image in your minds, so here is the picture I was hoping for (also used in Monday’s post)…

Much better. 🙂

Questions for the day:

What was your favorite class in college?

Are you on Instagram?

How is the weather where you are?

What was your favorite eat from this week?

P.S. Happy belated birthday to one of my favorite guys, William Shakespeare! 449 years old and still kickin’! (Literary-speaking, not literally. Obviously.) And Happy St. George’s Day to my UK friends!

SO JEALOUS YOURE DONE! Congratulations! I know how amazing it feels even if I am a teensy (okay a lot) jealous. Also, can’t go wrong with cookies. Those ones look incredible and I’m sure they taste even better. Best baker ever? We’re twins with the mac and cheese. Monday night I decided that’s what I was in the mood for so I left my chicken in the fridge and whipped up a batch. Good decision.

    1. I just noticed that! Mac and cheese FTW! I’m rooting you on…just a bit longer until the end of the semester! 🙂

  2. I think mixing macaroni and cheese with yogurt was on some list of the grossest food that college students ever made. Or something like that. Not that yours wasn’t delicious, because I am 100% positive it was. The description of the macaroni and cheese on the gross food list was made with a strawberry yogurt I believe. EH. I can’t even think about it.

I’m feeling super calm about the end of the semester too, even though I have a gazillion things due tomorrow. Like you said– Next week I won’t be quite so peppy I think 😉

    1. Hahaha really?? That’s too funny! And disgusting. Mine was definitely plain yogurt. Haha. Ew.

Well good luck with getting everything done! 🙂

  3. We could eat hummus EVERY DAY and never get tired of it! Sometimes, we make hummus, dip a bunch of random stuff in it and call it a meal!

    1. I’ve done that before too! So good!

    1. Thanks Jessie! 😀

Me too! There’s something so comforting about it…

  5. Yay for being done classes! That is great that you are not overly stressed about your finals and papers. That really does sound like a fun way to end a class! All of your eats look delicious, totally reminded me that I need to buy some hummus. I have been craving it recently!

    1. It’s a strange feeling to *not* be stressed out, but I’ll take it! 🙂

  6. Oh don’t you love the end of the semester! I am freaking out here because I am restarting in July after being off since Feb…. damn damn damn. Enjoy your break from classes 🙂

    1. Wow! Good luck with all of that! At least with summer classes you’re guaranteed nice weather… 😉

  7. Congrats on being done with the semester! I still remember the feeling of epic, profound relief once I turned in my last paper/took my last exam. 🙂

I think my favorite class in undergrad was either History of 20th Century Europe or Intro to International Relations. I loved both (history/poli sci nerd), and they were taught by my two favorite professors — and, in the long run, they totally changed the direction of my life. Whoda thunk it?

    1. Ohhh that history class sounds amazing!! I’m a history minor, so I’m the same way. 🙂 That’s so cool that they had such an effect – hopefully for the better?

  8. Congratulations! YOur pic of the mac and cheese just made me crave for one. Seriously. I’m making one for snack. 🙂

    1. Thanks!! I hope you did – that’s a goooood snack. 🙂

  16. Gah your baby is SO cute!! Mine needs a hair cut stat, I don’t dare post a picture of her for fear that PETA will come and arrest me.
